Mother’s Day Show 2018
This year I was so honoured to take over the Mother’s Day show that has been running for the past 19 years at the Bayside Resort in Parksville BC.
I had so much fun meeting new Moms and documenting their connection with their beautiful kids. My husband is a good sport and built and stained the backdrops for the show and they were ingenious in their design. I am able to use them for backdrops or floor drops in the studio even. My Dad is a trooper and helped me place artwork and between he and my husband they brought the muscle to move the backdrops. We were like a parade arriving with a huge trailer and my van packed to the gills with artwork. It was a community supported event and I couldn’t have pulled it off without all the love. The Bayside took a chance on me, I was very transparent in letting them know I hadn’t even been in business for more than 2 years and never put on a show. Vertgen Farms supplied me with some pretty incredible bouquets that really added a feminine touch to the show and my friends and family supported me by coming out to the show and even being in it! I am so appreciative of everyone’s support.
Here you can see the front of the main display wall. Isn’t it beautiful?! The canvas was a 30X40, it was almost as fun to unbox as it was to hang. It is literally larger than my television! I loved little lanterns that glimmered all day and night and added a romantic touch to the show. Coupled with the flowers and the intimate portraits of mother’s and their children I was pleased with the vibe the show was putting off.
My husband’s kinda rad you guys, he had the idea that I should have my picture in the show with our kids and the kids were
certain because they were in an art show they were practically famous.
This is a shot that includes my littles and shows some of the back wall. There was another wall not pictured but you can see all the images from the show in the slider below. I had a table set up with (no surprise…) more flowers and lanterns and a few matted prints, albums and gift certificates. I loved how it all came together and was so happy to be invited back next year. Gift certificates are always available and redeemable for up to one year after their purchase. They make such an awesome gift for Mom’s To Be, Mother’s Day (think the show next year!) and birthday presents.
I have included a slider with all the images that were featured in the show and if you follow me on Facebook you’ll be able to see my favourites that weren’t chosen by clients for their wall art but still hold a special place in my heart.
