I added a few new pieces to the maternity closet! They arrived at the studio in the cutest little netted bags. So cute, in fact that I had to grab my camera and document the unboxing of them!
It just felt fancy enough to need a wooden floor and fur layer… There are 3 new pieces and I had two consults today so I’ve seen them on and they’re gorgeous.
I just love how this chiffon and lace gown flows!
Love these tones and textures and ready to book your consult today?! You can email me, call 250-240-2727 or click the BOOK ONLINE link on the main page!
I also have new newborn goodies in but I’ll save those for when they’re all wrapped up in baby goodness. With all these “May-Ternity” bookings we are due to see some newborns very soon!
I met this beautiful little family when they were just three. Well, when they were 3.5… They called for a Maternity Session and I just fell in love with how sweet they all were. Before I could get their images prepared from their Maternity Session they welcomed their daughter into the world. They decided a Lifestyle Newborn Session was the best fit for them and we were able to squeeze a very quick session (in the door and back out in 55 minutes!) into their new busy schedule as a family of 4. As a backdrop for their newborn images they selected this beautiful room with light spilling in. Oh Happy Day!
Someone was excited to obtain Big Brother status!
I just loved how this beautiful mom stole away quiet moments with her newborn daughter and all the calm and grace she carried with her into this new challenge in motherhood.
I have so many maternity sessions coming up and new dresses that I can’t wait to photograph. I am sure I’ll be blogging about them all because the the pregnant form is already so gorgeous but add these dresses!? I cannot wait!!!
This year I was so honoured to take over the Mother’s Day show that has been running for the past 19 years at the Bayside Resort in Parksville BC.
I had so much fun meeting new Moms and documenting their connection with their beautiful kids. My husband is a good sport and built and stained the backdrops for the show and they were ingenious in their design. I am able to use them for backdrops or floor drops in the studio even. My Dad is a trooper and helped me place artwork and between he and my husband they brought the muscle to move the backdrops. We were like a parade arriving with a huge trailer and my van packed to the gills with artwork. It was a community supported event and I couldn’t have pulled it off without all the love. The Bayside took a chance on me, I was very transparent in letting them know I hadn’t even been in business for more than 2 years and never put on a show. Vertgen Farms supplied me with some pretty incredible bouquets that really added a feminine touch to the show and my friends and family supported me by coming out to the show and even being in it! I am so appreciative of everyone’s support.
Here you can see the front of the main display wall. Isn’t it beautiful?! The canvas was a 30X40, it was almost as fun to unbox as it was to hang. It is literally larger than my television! I loved little lanterns that glimmered all day and night and added a romantic touch to the show. Coupled with the flowers and the intimate portraits of mother’s and their children I was pleased with the vibe the show was putting off.
My husband’s kinda rad you guys, he had the idea that I should have my picture in the show with our kids and the kids were
certain because they were in an art show they were practically famous.
This is a shot that includes my littles and shows some of the back wall. There was another wall not pictured but you can see all the images from the show in the slider below. I had a table set up with (no surprise…) more flowers and lanterns and a few matted prints, albums and gift certificates. I loved how it all came together and was so happy to be invited back next year. Gift certificates are always available and redeemable for up to one year after their purchase. They make such an awesome gift for Mom’s To Be, Mother’s Day (think the show next year!) and birthday presents.
I have included a slider with all the images that were featured in the show and if you follow me on Facebook you’ll be able to see my favourites that weren’t chosen by clients for their wall art but still hold a special place in my heart.
Look at who came to see me in the studio! Little baby Corbin, with an I. I kept spelling his name with an A but honestly, I like it even more with an I. He liked being bundled up into a cute baby burrito so we did that.
When we finally unfurled him from his little bundle he didn’t want me to move him out of scrunchy positions.
Getting his head on his hands was a tricky pose so we went with what worked for Corbin. (With an I)I’m so glad we did, his gallery is full of naturally beautiful moments. Oh and he woke up at the end. Look at his bright eyes and inquisitive little face. Swoon. I just know his family is going to have so much fun getting to know him, I sure did!
I say it all the time but I love my job. People trust me with such a special time in their lives and it is a privilege to document it. I had a little one come to my tiny studio and my baby snuggle quota was met. I mean, seriously, who couldn’t love this?
He was such a good baby, he ate and slept like a champ. Seriously, this little guy is a dreamboat to work with and look at.
Look at this cutie’s hair! And those squishy baby back rolls…
I cannot help myself with daddy hands and baby feet. Lets be honest… You can’t either.
I had his parents in a few frames before and after this sweet little one’s arrival. Aren’t they a beautiful new family? I wish them all the best Luckily I will find out how they are doing as we are already looking forward to documenting this little guy together!
To book a maternity session (+ newborn package) you can still get in on the MAY-Ternity event for a few more days! Save 20% on your maternity session when you book with your retainer before the end of May!
It is such a relief to finally see the sun! West coast living means wet, grey winters. I’m not complaining, they’re cozy and I swear I get double the snuggles with my kids when we cuddle up under a blanket together and read stories but I’m seriously getting cabin fever! I couldn’t get out there fast enough after school drop off this morning when the sun made an appearance. Luckily I still have one home with me who is willing to be my subject- and often ends up being my muse.
The rumour is more sun tomorrow and I hope so because I am ready to stop rescheduling clients due to rain!!!
